SUMMARY
The Digital Media Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and financial performance of the Company’s digital media platforms. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance & Administration, this Senior level position oversees all digital platforms, related infrastructure, digital publishing operations, performance analysis, vendor management, and contracts.
The Digital Media Director serves as the primary business leader for all digital assets, ensuring technology investments and strategy drive audience growth, operational efficiency, revenue generation, and profitability. This role partners closely with the Content Team, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership to maximize the value of the Company’s digital platforms.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Strategy & Leadership
· Develop and execute the Company’s digital media strategy.
· Lead all digital platform operations including websites, mobile platforms, digital publications, audience engagement tools, and emerging media technologies.
· Identify opportunities to expand digital revenue, improve operational efficiencies, and enhance customer experience and reach.
· Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments while staying abreast of the latest trends and practices.
Financial Accountability
· Own the annual operating budget for all digital media operations.
· Develop revenue forecasts and expense budgets for digital business units.
· Monitor financial performance against budget and implement corrective actions when necessary.
· Identify opportunities to improve profitability through cost management and revenue optimization.
· Present financial performance, business cases, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Digital Platform Management
· Oversee all digital publishing platforms and related technologies.
· Ensure optimal system performance, uptime, security, and user experience.
· Lead implementation of new digital products and platform enhancements.
Vendor & Contract Management
· Negotiate and manage technology, software, licensing, and digital service contracts.
· Maintain strategic relationships with technology vendors and third-party partners.
· Identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor optimization and contract negotiations.
Matrix Leadership of Digital Content
· Provide matrixed oversight and strategic coordination of digital content initiatives across Content, Marketing, Sales, and Product teams.
· Collaborate with content leaders to maximize audience growth and engagement.
· Drive SEO, audience analytics, digital subscriptions, and content distribution strategies.
· Ensure digital initiatives support overall publishing objectives while maintaining editorial independence.
Analytics & Performance
· Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for all digital properties.
· Utilize analytics to guide business decisions and investment priorities.
· Monitor:

o Subscription performance

o User acquisition
o Revenue per visitor
o Customer retention
· Deliver executive dashboards and regular performance reporting

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Digital Media, Communications, or related field.
· 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in digital media, publishing, technology, or related industries.
· Minimum 5 years managing technology and digital operations.
· Experience leading cross-functional teams.
· Strong financial acumen with experience managing operating budgets and P&L responsibility.
· Strong vendor management capabilities.
· Demonstrated success negotiating technology and vendor contracts.
· Experience leading digital transformation initiatives.
· Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, digital publishing platforms, analytics, SEO, CMS platforms, CRM systems, and digital advertising technologies.
· Exceptional communication, leadership, and executive presentation skills.
Preferred
· Master’s degree (MBA or related discipline).
· Experience in media, publishing, or content-driven organizations.
· Familiarity with subscription-based digital business models.
· Experience with audience analytics, digital marketing technology, and revenue optimization strategies.
· Relevant certifications in technology, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or project management.
