Position Summary:

Develop, modify, and maintain the College web and social media presence, including user interface, responsive design, and content management.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Make decisions to improve and update responsive design for all devices as technology evolves. 
  • Collaborate with College departments to ascertain the completeness, accuracy, relevance, timeliness of data, and information posted on the MCC website for audit and verification purposes. 
  • Collaborate directly with internal clients to produce and edit appropriate content for posting, updating, or correcting online information as necessary. 
  • Assist other College departments with advertising, marketing, recruiting, retention, and fundraising through online strategy. 
  • Partner with the Coordinator of Web Strategy and the Executive Director of Marketing and Creative Services on web initiatives and budgets. 
  • Work with the Content Marketing Writer to produce new content and repurpose existing content, utilizing best practices in writing for the web and valid standards for compliant code. 
  • Partner with Information Technology department on web-related security issues 
  • Work with graphic design team to align look/feel of website and social media with other print communication channel. 
  • Apply search engine optimization (SEO) knowledge to optimize web content to ensure search engine viability. 
  • Work independently to make informed and data driven decisions related to best practices and accessibility for the main MCC website. 
  • Test and improve the design of the website.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities (continued):

  • Maintain design guidelines, standards, and best practices. 
  • Maintain the appearance of websites by enforcing content standards. 
  • Design visual imagery for websites and ensuring that they are in line with college branding. 
  • Work with different content management systems (main site is on Cascade). 
  • Incorporate functionalities and features into websites. 
  • Design sample pages. 
  • Prepare design plans to maintain and improve website structure. 
  • Maintain documentation and provide reports of website and social media activity, including analytics and tagging. 
  • Work with graphic design team to align look/feel of website and social media with other print communication channels. 
  • Produce and edit content for social media and monitor social media properties. 
  • Manage and monitor paid advertising campaigns on social media channels. 
  • Operate as administrator of Cascade content management system (CMS), including security (managing users, groups, and roles within the CMS), accessibility checking, managing workflow and publish triggers, and work as liaison with CMS website hosting company. 
  • Create and configure Cascade CMS templates, using Velocity, a java-based template engine. 
  • Troubleshoot Cascade CMS applications and custom-developed tools. 
  • Collaborate with third party developers to create custom tools for internal MCC customers (liaison between client, MCC IT, and developers). 
  • Provide CSS maintenance and/or support for college partnered tools (e.g., Cascade CMS, Presto CMS, Lumens, Career Coach, Acalog, and NEOED). 
  • Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities. 
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Two years work-related experience in a relevant field (preferably as web designer or admin of a website)
