The Strategic Communications Manager is integral to the development and execution of an all-encompassing communication strategy that disseminates crucial information to key stakeholders across the ACE (Advanced Customer Experience) business transformation. This role takes a holistic approach to design a system that will encompass consistent and timely communication techniques to radiate crucial information across multiple internal stakeholders, in meticulous harmony with the non-ACE initiatives. Beyond just strategic thinking, this role emphasizes hands-on application in digital media and is pivotal to the organization's change management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key contributor and thought leader to building best-in-class communications practices that advance AbbVie’s ability to build and sustain its ACE story and transformational nature.
  • Support strategies and initiatives that engage stakeholder through compelling communications outreach, programs and initiatives 
  • Develop communication plan: Own the overarching communication plan, fully accountable for web and digital channels ensuring periodic delivery of key messages. 
  • Maintain a network of ACE ambassadors, conduct community events and best practice forums. 
  • Collect Insights: Systematically gather and interpret input from a variety of sources to delineate stakeholder communication needs and preferences.
  • Design a Framework: Craft a holistic communication framework, pinpointing the best channels, tactics, and timelines for effective dissemination.
  • Translate Strategy into Action: Convert the overarching communication strategy into tangible tactics and resources, ensuring widespread and effective adoption.
  • Digital Media Mastery: Deploy hands-on skills in digital media, producing top-tier visual and written communications tailored to the audience.
  • Engage with Key Stakeholders: Works collaborative with the ACE Project Lead, Change Management and Innovation lead, and other peers, to ensure alignment and resonance in all communications.
  • Measure Impact: Rigorously evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication campaigns, leveraging data and analytics to refine strategies continually.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Collaborate intensively with internal teams and functions, ensuring a unified message and consistent narratives across all channels.
  • Stay Informed: Continuously update knowledge on the latest trends in strategic communication, digital media, and change management.
  • Continuous Refinement: Regularly reassess and adjust communication strategies to ensure alignment with evolving stakeholder requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Accountable for the adherence to HR and OEC guidelines. 
  • Proactively engages and anticipates input from the HR and OEC teams to allow time for review and feedback.
  • Collaborative authoring: assists in the crafting and editing of messages in the voice and style of executive leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Integrated Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 2 years) in strategic communications with a pronounced focus on digital media.
  • Hands-on expertise in producing visual and written digital media content.
  • Acute analytical skills with the capability to gather, evaluate, and apply data for continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and visual communication proficiencies, with knowledge of emerging communication trends and technologies
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly across various teams and departments.
  • Strong strategic planning and critical thinking aptitude to anticipate customer’s needs.
  • Experience in the healthcare/bio-pharma industry a plus 
  • Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Operations and Communications, the Strategic Communications Manager is not only an ambassador of the organization's voice but also a pivotal force in steering its change management trajectory.
