Responsible for delivering multi-faceted internal, executive-level communication and the Corporate Social Responsibility strategy designed to build and strengthen U.S. Cellular's company culture and philanthropic programs that enhance the company's reputation and build goodwill. This role serves as a leader of a team of professionals primarily responsible for executive messaging and internal branding identity. The position provides guidance and creates strategies by working closely with senior leaders to determine priority initiatives and develop strategies to achieve these objectives.

  • Designs, executes and supports communication programs and delivery vehicles intended to demonstrate the company's progress, inspire confidence in our plan to pursue future opportunities and clarify the role of employees necessary to advance the business 
  • Works with Communications Managers and staff to integrate the voice of senior level executives and execute strategic internal communications plans that tell the company's story to key audiences through fresh, engaging, and educational internal content
  • Responsible for the strategic and tactical development of executive-level communications including but not limited to, written materials, digital content (including video and podcast production), long-term communication campaigns, etc. 
  • Develop event packages, remarks, communications and correspondence for executives and senior leaders 
  • Manages, coordinates and oversees up-to-date internal-facing digital content for the company intranet homepage 
  • Leads a team responsible for the execution of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategic philanthropic programs and plans, including charitable giving, volunteerism and associate match that target consumers, community leaders and associates, and drives consideration for U.S. Cellular 
  • Oversees the management of external (CSR) nonprofit relationships to generate awareness and consideration of U.S. Cellular in key markets throughout U.S. Cellular's service areas
  • Reviews written materials for grammar and adherence to AP style, U.S. Cellular's style and voice; Monitor business and technology news to drive enhanced business acumen
  • Support crisis communications activities
  • Measure and report on success of executed communications, and utilize data and other insights to drive greater future effectiveness
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Public Affairs, Journalism, English, or Communications 
  • At least seven (7) years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in developing and managing compelling, innovative and engaging content and employee communications campaigns in a corporate environment 
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working with nonprofit operations and effective outreach programs aligned with brands and businesses 
  • Experience working with executive-level leadership 
  • Successful track record of leading cross-functional teams is required 
  • Experience with building networks across diverse teams and geographies 
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team-based environment, while also working independently 
  • Demonstrated project management, problem-solving and critical thinking skills 
  • Proven ability to work quickly and decisively to meet deadlines, troubleshoot and manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Outstanding knowledge of grammar and familiarity with copy editing, coupled with a commitment to excellence, quality and attention to detail 
  • Experience with producing various types of digital and print marketing collateral while ensuring adherence to brand guidelines 
  • Familiarity with digital content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced/Master's degree preferred 
  • Previous experience working within telecommunications or related industry a plus
