The Position:

The City of Maple Grove is seeking a Special Events Assistant! You'll play a key role in executing event operations and providing facility support in collaboration with Parks and Recreation staff. Additionally, you will be tasked withsetting up and tearing down events, assisting with concerts and movies at Town Green, and performing general facility tasks. This position will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service in a dynamic and diverse environment.Come and join our growing and diverse community!

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with bands and performers; ensure their needs are met upon arrival. 
  • Make pre-concert announcements to welcome attendees and provide event details. 
  • Greet and assist sponsors, ensuring proper recognition and accommodations. 
  • Set up and tear down concert and event equipment (tables, chairs, signage). 
  • Crowd management and address attendee questions/concerns. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of the event space; manage trash and restroom supplies. 
  • Serve as the point of contact for event staff, sponsors, and performers. 
  • Assist with setup and teardown of community events, including transportation of supplies. 
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and respect the diversity of customers and co-workers, effectively communicating with individuals whose first language may be one other than English. 
  • Coordinates efforts to ensure the City of Maple Grove is an equitable, inclusive, and respectful organization and supports the City’s mission, vision, and core values.

Equivalency:

An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.

Need to have:

  • 18 years of age or older 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Flexible schedule, ability to work nights and weekends 
  • Lite up to 40lbs

Nice to have:

  • Interest in special event planning/coordination 
  • Previous experience in assisting with events 
  • Customer service experience

Salary: $17.48 - $20.76 Hourly
