Madison College is hiring a Social Media Strategist to help share the Madison College story. As a key member of the college’s Strategic Communications team, the Social Media Strategist manages the college’s official social media accounts and is responsible for creating, developing, and distributing content, stories, and news to advance and further the college’s mission and engage with key audiences. This role requires a collaborative-minded and think outside-the-box creative with a curiosity and passion for storytelling.

This individual understands the importance of timely, engaging, and consistent content and will work with the Strategic Communications team, college leadership, and key internal partners to elevate priorities, stories, and institutional messaging in a strategic way. With the college’s social platforms being primary tools for engagement, this role leverages an innovative, creative, and dynamic approach to drive interest and spark curiosity about the college. This individual requires a keen editorial sense to craft and curate a diverse array of video, written, and visual content for Madison College’s social media channels, with the ability to adapt tone and style as needed, tailor messaging to different audiences, and write posts that range widely in topic. The ability to create and share authentic stories that reflect the culture and values of the college is essential.

This role provides guidance, resources, and support to college leadership, employees, and stakeholders across the campus to ensure that all social media content created and shared on behalf of the college aligns with the college's mission, institutional messaging, and brand standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizes, plans, and oversees the comprehensive social media strategy and content plan for Madison College, managing the official social platforms of the institution. This role collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop, and produce compelling social media content that underscores the college's significance and value, fostering a positive image among key audiences.
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content across all of Madison College’s social media platforms, actively monitoring and engaging with the audience through timely responses to messages and comment; where needed, this role also provides strategic consultation and content development for high-profile and highly-visible college-affiliated accounts, including those of college leadership; integral to the college’s overarching editorial strategy, this role collaborates closely with the Strategic Communications team to disseminate important news, updates, and stories in compelling and timely ways.
  • Oversees and updates Madison College’s institutional social media policies, identifying and communicating necessary changes to ensure current practices align with evolving digital trends and branding guidelines; support, guide and offer resources to college leadership, employees and internal stakeholders on social media best practices and the college’s current and evolving social media strategy; create templates and guidelines to help visually demonstrate best practices (example: social media strategy template)
  • In close partnership with Madison College’s Marketing team, this position plays a key role in integrating and supporting campaign messaging and priorities, particularly for recruitment and enrollment initiatives; ensures consistent branding across all institutional social media channels and strategizes with the Marketing team to effectively utilize existing marketing assets such as photography, videos, website, and graphic design. The aim is to create compelling content that strengthens the college’s overall brand and messaging across all social platforms.
  • Tracks analytics and metrics of all social media accounts; researches and stays up-to-date on new social media trends, platforms, and best practices; provides recommendations on new strategies and ideas for both institutional social media platforms and leadership accounts; plans and directs social media budget, including interns, influencers, giveaways, and other creative ways to drive engagement.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for a large organization or institution, and developing social media content and campaigns focused on reaching strategic goals and objectives 
  • Demonstrated experience in digital storytelling -- including writing and producing compelling content and video with understanding of target audience, CTA, and desired outcome. 
  • Experience either capturing, editing, or sourcing photography and videos via internal partners (Marketing team, leadership, etc.) as needed. 
  • Experience posting, monitoring, tracking analytics and evaluating impact of social media content across multiple platforms (ie LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X) through use of social media management platform (Sprout Social, etc.) 
  • Experience capturing and editing photos and video for social media purposes (Reels, etc.) 
  • Ability to engage with and quickly build rapport with internal and external stakeholders in social and event settings; confidence and ease interacting event attendees, students, employees, general public, and populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities. 
  • Knowledge of social media trends, industry connections to learn about emerging platforms, and demonstrated experience trying and testing new ideas 
  • Strong problem solving and crisis communication skills, coupled with good judgment; ability to work independently with minimal instruction and in collaboration with multiple teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience. *Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position. 
  • Two year’s related experience.

Salary Information: $58,975-$73,713

This is a full-time, exempt position, with the ability for hybrid work per college policy.Core office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, M-F. This position will cover various college events and activities and can expect occasional evening and weekend work.
