The Social & Digital Media Specialist will support the College Marketing team to develop and manage social media and email marketing content aligned with short-term and long-term department and institution goals, ensuring brand consistency across all platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about crafting compelling narratives, creating visually appealing content, and leveraging new media to engage our audience.

  • Manage all primary Waukesha County Technical College social media accounts, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter/X and LinkedIn. Develop and implement organic social media strategy and content calendar that aligns with brand strategy, guidelines and goals. 
  • Utilize short-form video to enhance brand presence through TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories, video testimonials, etc. Develop student brand ambassador program through video. 
  • Collaborate with departments and programs across campus to share a variety of content and build a comprehensive presence across all social media platforms. Assist in teaching best practices to managers of affiliated WCTC social media accounts. Build strong relationships with staff and internal partners across multiple facilities and departments to plan and identify content opportunities. 
  • Coordinate with members of the marketing team to integrate social media advertising campaigns and content strategy into other digital advertising initiatives, enrollment campaigns, email campaigns, etc. for maximum reach and performance.
  • Manage digital promotional signage across campus to adequately promote and educate external audiences about branding, events and deadlines at WCTC. 
  • Monitor, track and report upon appropriate metrics and make recommendations to improve performance on social media accounts. Seek continuous growth in content and on new platforms, including engaging with local brands, partners and influencers (and/or students) to increase reach, engagement and consistency. 
  • Work in partnership with Digital Marketing Strategist to support paid digital advertising initiatives, paid social media advertising, email development and other creative content opportunities. 
  • Support additional writing and design initiatives as needed, which cold include storytelling, talking points, website copy, newsletters, articles, etc.
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, new/digital media, business or similar preferred 
  • 2-4 years of experience and possess a comprehensive knowledge of engaging social media account management 
  • Proven experience directly administering at least two major, external-facing social media channels (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter/X, and/or LinkedIn) for a business, non-profit, or academic institution for a year or longer 
  • Experience with building and administering an ongoing social media calendar, with a proven understanding of ideal timing and frequency of posts depending on the channel 
  • Proven ability to create and curate on-brand, engaging social content tailored to specific channels and audiences. 
  • Skilled at crafting friendly and professional social media comments, responses, and captions aligned with the brand's voice 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a knowledge of AP style preferred 
  • Working knowledge of social media accessibility best practices 
  • Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred) 
  • Experience shooting and editing photos and video for digital and social media 
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills 
  • Have superior communication, organization and time management skills 
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and respond effectively in a rapidly changing environment and identify in-the-moment content opportunities 
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations in a professional manner in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work as a self-starter, taking initiative on projects with little direction
  • Competitive compensation, $25.59 - $27.63 hourly
