Burrell Communications is seeking a Senior Social Strategist. As a member of the digital and social media team, you will lead the team and guide our client (one of the agency’s largest retail accounts) and inter agency team partners in the development and execution of an integrated earned social media communications strategy including content and influencer engagement. The integrated earned social media plan will proactively engage our targeted audience, GEN Z multicultural youth, and to contribute to the overall growth and expansion of the brand’s business. This role is client-facing yet will lead different initiative from those managed by the senior manager, social media. He/she must be a proven social media strategist and ability activate programs with a keen ability to effectively communicate (written and verbally) with clients about the power and influence of social media in multicultural markets with the GEN Z audience.

This role requires the ability to lead and effectively manage an internal and cross-functional team in handling key strategic programs/projects and day-to-day social activities. He or she must be willing and able to respond quickly to team requests. You will develop a clear understanding of our target audience social media/digital preferences and needs and communicate internally and externally the agency business requirements/needs and social media goals/objectives. He/she will lead the team in aligning the earned social media strategy with the overarching integrated marketing plan. Must be flexible and a strategic and innovative thought-leader who applies industry best practices and strategic focus to identify and optimize business and market opportunities. The social media team will help to drive and improve business results while increasing brand awareness and strengthening brand affinity respectively.

  • 7-10 digital and social media strategic and activation experience, ideally in an agency environment. 
  • Experience in developing annual integrated social media plan in support of client’s overarching business plan 
  • Campaign experience targeting the African-American consumer market 
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the digital and social media landscape, platforms and how to leverage platforms/channels to drive impact across brand and retail initiatives 
  • Strong strategic, communications and presentation skills required 
  • Experience working within a matrix environment with other disciplines and cross functional teams 
  • A persuasive and convincing writing style 
  • Works well under pressure 
  • Ability to achieve tight deadlines 
  • Ability to interact confidently with clients at a senior level 
  • Ability to troubleshoot team and client problem areas - and suggest a remedial course of action
