PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Plan and execute Chosen nonfiction, a division of Baker Publishing Group, campaigns - approximately 25 per year (and other duties as assigned) and provide marketing support. About 70 percent of your time will be spent on publicity campaigns and the other 30 percent will be assisting with marketing tactics.

Primary Duties:

  • Create press material and develop a publicity campaign for each assigned book. 
  • Direct and facilitate all proactive and reactive media relations, including facilitating interviews, articles, and press coverage for new titles. 
  • Actively build relationships with national, local, and regional media 
  • Build relationships with authors, agents, and other BPG team members 
  • Participate in nonfiction marketing and other team meetings 
  • Participate in author meetings via zoom or in person 
  • Travel as needed to accompany authors to national interviews and conferences 
  • Contribute to the larger book marketing endeavor, including but not limited to (1) reviewing book proposals for market viability, (2) serving as a lead voice in book positioning, (3) planning and executing select marketing campaigns, (4) and soliciting endorsements.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of publicity experience or degree in public relations, journalism, communications or marketing. 
  • Working knowledge of the Christian media landscape, particularly in the charismatic and Pentecostal denominations 
  • Working knowledge of Christian publishing 
  • Track record of successful pitches and angles for media 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive, high-pressure environment 
  • Candidate should have an interest in and commitment to Christian book publishing. 
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills 
  • Experience working with media platforms such as Cision, Muckrack, Podchaser 
  • Savvy in using social media to promote authors/books

Compensation and Benefits:
