We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and energetic individual to support the MCC’s digital presence. Primary responsibilities include developing content for digital platforms, capturing photos and video of MCC athletic contests, and managing social media campaigns.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Develop content, strategies, project plans, and campaigns that build audience and engagement for each social media network to help meet institutional goals. 
  • Regularly capture photos and video of MCC programs and events, including occasionally at night and on weekends. 
  • Monitor social conversations and respond when appropriate. 
  • Research, develop, and implement social media tools to support MCC brand, strategic goals, and business objectives. 
  • Track, collect, and interpret relevant social media metrics while continually finding ways to improve content. 
  • Edit photos on Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom and work within photo-organizing software — Zenfolio. 
  • Other marketing duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the direction of the MPS Commissioner of Athletics & Academics in collaboration with Milwaukee Recreation’s in-house marketing team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 21 years of age or older. 
  • Able to meet the scheduling needs required for this position. 
  • Access to reliable transportation. 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, good driving record, and the MPS-required level of personal auto liability insurance. 
  • Flexible schedule to work weekdays, weeknights, and some Saturdays.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, or a related field. 
  • Working knowledge of marketing strategies related to high school athletics. 
  • Demonstrated experience building audiences through social networks. 
  • Writing, editing, and crafting branded content for the social media space. 
  • Strong analytical and data-driven thinking. 
  • The ability to communicate on social platforms in a consistent, on-brand voice. 
  • The ability to create content using multimedia tools, such as video, photography, and design.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong writing and editing ability, along with the good judgment to represent a trusted nonprofit brand directly to the public. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of social media trends and best practices, and willingness to share that knowledge with others in the organization. 
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships. 
  • Excellent decision-making skills, and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.

This is a part-time position (35 hours per week) without benefits.  The starting wage is $17/hour.
