LifeSource is seeking a Marketing Communications Manager to execute our marketing and internal/external communication strategies and programs, including stakeholder communications, marketing and advertising campaigns, content strategy, driver’s license office partnerships, internal and external event management, media relations, issues management, fundraising and crisis communications.

This includes working effectively across all levels of the organization to collect information, craft stories and communicate to workforce, partners and the public to create an engaged and informed culture.

This manager will oversee the creative process for branding, messaging, and communications strategies, as well as leading a service-oriented team who implement strategic communication initiatives to drive success, to increase organ, eye, and tissue donation, and to safeguard the organization’s reputation and image, both internally and externally.

As a Marketing Communications Manager, you'll advance our lifesaving mission by performing the following duties:

Develop, implement, and monitor successful marketing, advertising and public relations strategies and programs to increase the donor registry and brand awareness throughout the Donor Service Area (DSA) of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

  • Lead media relations efforts to ensure the organization is appropriately represented, the public is well informed about donation and positive relations with media sources are maintained.
  • Lead the development of paid media campaigns in traditional and digital media in partnership with a local agency partner.
  • Support issues and crisis communications activities in collaboration with Executive Leadership.
  • Deploy the implementation of public opinion surveys to effectively strategize ways to educate and influence the public.
  • Oversee the development of print and digital communications materials – including website and social media –for key audiences in accordance with cognitional goals and strategies.
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement team to ensure consistency in message and strategy.

Provide oversight and leadership of communication initiatives with key customers, partners and stakeholders in alignment with organizational strategies.

  • Develop and implement corporate communications strategies for stakeholders, including financial contributors and the board of directors. 
  • Provide guidance and council to Executive Leadership on messaging, communications, presentations, and organizational brand. 
  • Engage in creating materials provided to donor families at the time of donation and through the aftercare program. 
  • Participate in community listening methods to inform intended marketing communications strategies. Deploy communication strategies to advance commitments of diversity, equity and inclusion programs in conjunction with the Leadership team. 

Develop creative and effective communications campaigns that engage workforce across multiple channels, including traditional (print), digital mediums (office screens and intranet), web-based collaboration and internal/external social channels.

  • Manage internal communications materials including, but not limited to, office media screens, event invitations and intranet resources. 
  • Provide guidance and assistance to Leadership and front-life staff on messaging, communications and presentations. 
  • Manage, monitor, and drive appropriate use of internal communication channels in accordance with the Communications Resource guide. 
  • Analyze metrics, share insights, and adjust plans with a focus on continuous improvement for internal communications channels. 
  • Provide training for workforce on communications tools, appropriate use across the organizational platforms.
  • Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 10 years of journalism, communications, marketing or public relations responsibilities. 
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of proven leadership, mentoring and coaching experience. Must maintain a valid driver license and have reliable personal automobile to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. 
  • Proven ability to successfully create and manage communications activities in health care, donation, or non-profit environment. 
  • Exceptional writing, editing and content strategy and development expertise, including experience crafting talking points, key messages, media pitches, newsletters, marketing materials and digital content. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including previous experience with public speaking. 
  • Ability to lead a team, coordinate internal and external resources, and achieve measurable results against specific goals. 
  • Effective at establishing rapport and working relationships with diverse groups and personalities both remotely, via phone, email and/or in person. 
  • Skilled in overseeing social media and digital marketing content and/or campaign creation. 
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with a desire to improve processes, take initiative and solve problems. 
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to confidently execute reasonable and sound decision making. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of quality, integrity, and honor confidentiality of appropriate information including, but not limited to, personal team member data, organizational operations or work processes, donor and donor family information, contributor details, any financial information and medical or protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven skilled and competent in using technology-based tools such as personal computers and related software, mobile devices, and electronic medical record systems as appropriate for position.
