Reports to Executive Director.

Build awareness of Fort Atkinson and its amenities with the intent of creating a positive economic impact through increased tourism spending. Produce content for public relations activities, publications, brochures, newsletters, websites, social media outlets, media releases, advertising, and other internal/external communications. Manages media buys and placements.

  • Oversee and maintain website(s) and social media platforms 
  • Maintain online event listings on external sites 
  • Produce weekly emailed newsletters 
  • Develop and manage annual tourism budget and payment of tourism invoices 
  • Coordinate annual advertising campaign promoting Fort Atkinson as a destination 
  • Oversee marketing of Fort Atkinson programs, including Chamber events 
  • Responsible for Chamber branding 
  • Research, write, fact-check, edit, and post articles and press releases 
  • Meet with Fort Atkinson’s Tourism Commission and the Chamber’s Board of Directors 
  • Collaborate with Event Coordinator to plan and execute events that benefit Fort Atkinson 
  • Oversee promotion of retail attractions and coordinate with Membership Engagement Chairperson 
  • Track and maintain statistics and data of marketing programs for regular analysis, reporting and planning 
  • Promote Jefferson County Tourism 
  • Actively support, attend, and participate in Chamber events and programs

Specific Projects/Activities:

  • Media buys - Business Visits 
  • Weekly newsletter - Retail and Farmers Market promotions 
  • Attract overnight stays - City street banners 
  • City-wide Publications - Promotional photos and videos 
  • Social media updates/content creation - Strive Local app

Knowledge, Experience and Education Required:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, graphic design, journalism, communications, business or related field 
  • Experience with social media applications and website development/maintenance 
  • Experience and success in developing compelling written, oral and visual materials 
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong experience working with media and print vendors 
  • Ability to assess marketing opportunities and develop strategic plans to reach targeted audiences 
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize workload involving multiple projects at one time 
  • Results-oriented and willingness to be accountable for measurable goals 
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively as well as provide solutions 
  • Ability to relate to and communicate effectively to diverse audiences 
  • Ability to travel to county, regional and state meetings when required (less than 1x/month)
  • Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information 
  • Knowledge of Fort Atkinson tourism amenities 
  • Preferred experience in association management industry 
  • Preferred experience with Google Suite, Canva, Adobe or other design sites, GoDaddy, and Mailchimp

Additional Attributes:

Position has contact with all levels of business member organizations (employees to CEOs), media, vendors, and the Fort Atkinson Area community. Professional demeanor in communication, dress and speech is essential. Must be able to calmly multi-task priority projects and manage workload while meeting multiple deadlines. Must be self-directed and task-oriented. Must be willing to work an occasional evening or weekend, and follow any job-related instructions pertaining to other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000 dependent on experience; potential annual bonuses

Wages will be determined in accordance with applicant’s experience and qualifications.

The Chamber offers eleven paid holidays plus accumulated paid time off (10 days) after successful completion of probationary period. Short and long-term disability, vision insurance and dental plan are available, and full-time employees who have completed one full year of service are eligible to participate in the Chamber’s retirement plan.
