Responsible for managing the efficient, accelerated execution of artwork development projects to align with APC and Customer strategies. Engage with customers, separators, engravers and internal manufacturing toward the creation of accurate content and appropriately produced printing artwork files against all timelines and budgets. Demonstrate expertise of technology, color, and print requirements to drive speed to market, reduce redundancy, and minimize inaccuracy. This includes reviewing artwork, recommending revisions to improve reproduction, instructing separators on specifications and requirements, coordinating final proof approval and assisting in establishing color standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the STOP Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation’s efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate. Adhere to all company safety guidelines. 
  • Establish execution strategies for the introduction of customer graphics projects, including new product launches, line extensions, redesigns, product improvement projects, trials, and cost-savings projects. Following established APC procedures, objectives, timing, and financial commitments in specified systems and tools. 
  • Coordinate proof approval process with customers, separators, engravers and internal-manufacturing through current APC procedures and written and verbal communication as needed. 
  • Coordinate customer press approvals. Ensuring the customer and APC requirements are met, assisting the customer in color adjustments and gaining final customer approval. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers. Manufacturing, pre-press, separator, engraver, ink vendors. 
  • Review and approve artwork to ensure accuracy and compliance with division, industry, print (roto), and government regulations guidelines. Make recommendations to improve reproduction as needed. Document and/or resolve specification deviations. Attend pre-production meetings with customers and suppliers as needed and schedule internal pre-pro meetings as defined by APC procedures. 
  • Complete all print order specs and purchase orders. 
  • Review, approve, and process cost estimate and invoices related to artwork development projects. 
  • Understand & be capable of initiating fingerprint trials with our key suppliers & then interpreting the results. 
  • Individual must be very self-motivated & take proactive steps towards solving identified problems. Must also be very willing to take on new projects as they develop. 
  • Assemble, distribute and maintain customer approved color standards. Distribute samples to internal and external customers as required. 
  • Stay abreast of new pre-press graphics technology. 
  • Attend and participate in all company mandated meetings. 
  • Business travel required. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum two years training towards a Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, three years related work experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Candidate must possess/exhibit the following skills/abilities:

  • Strong project management, time management, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills a must. 
  • Knowledge of Gravure printing. 
  • Knowledge in FDA, USDA and UPC compliance a plus (knowledge base across all categories). 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented 
  • Self-directed, self-starter who has the ability to motivate team members and be proactive 
  • Familiarity with both Mac and PC platforms 
  • Working knowledge in PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, AS400, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop
