We are looking for a highly-motivated environmental graphic designer with experience working on exhibitions, retail, and/or themed spaces. The candidate would work with our creative team and the client to create memorable experiences. In addition to design, they would be responsible for integrating text, researching and acquiring images, some illustration, and coordinating with fabrication and installation teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, plan, and design graphics for projects including permanent museum exhibits, event marketing pop-ups, retail, hospitality, and location-based entertainment. 
  • Facilitate, conduct and/or participate in group creative discussions, charettes, design meetings, staff meetings, reviews, and project critiques. 
  • Prepare and present complete design packages. 
  • Research, organize, and present graphic design concepts, visual references, and innovative design solutions. 
  • Develop and complete design assignments form preliminary design concepts through completion. 
  • Work/interface collaboratively with design team. 
  • Coordinate communications with internal team regarding design solutions, materials, and project timelines. 
  • Work closely with printing department. 
  • Provide graphic files for production. 
  • Work within established budgets and timelines. 
  • Coordinate, maintain, and organize digital and hardcopy archives of all graphic design projects. 
  • Develop graphic standards and hierarchies per project style and content. 
  • Multi-task; able to lead and support work on several projects at a time. 
  • Travel to meetings and site visits as required.
  • BA or MA in graphic design or fine arts or equivalent and a minimum 5-8 years professional exhibit design and art directions experience. 
  • Expert knowledge with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with graphic output and production equipment. 
  • Strong understanding of three-dimensional design, including scale. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple simultaneous projects. 
  • Ability to write, proofread, and edit basic text and label information. 
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, practices and terms for graphic design and production fields. 
  • Understanding ADA and accessibility best practices. 
  • Ability to work well independently or in collaborative groups. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Skills in identity or branding design, wayfinding, and/or 3D modeling software (Blendr) a plus.
