The portfolio includes Welch Allyn products for vision screening & diagnostics which focus on preventing blindness by facilitating early detection and treatment; physical exam & diagnostic tools; diagnostic cardiology connected electrocardiograph products; and Hillrom’s respiratory care portfolio.

The Global Director Product Marketing role is the global marketing leader covering our Diagnostic Cardiology business and reports to the VP of Marketing, Front Line Care. This position is critical to upstream and product marketing for the line and will work closely with other senior executives within FLC and various functional areas including the other SBUs, including QA/RA, Finance, Strategic Marketing, Marketing Communications, Clinical, Regional Marketing, Operations, and R&D.

Hillrom seeks an Upstream Marketing leader who can balance strategic vision coupled with tactical execution to grow this global business beyond $120M. This leader with will be responsible for the product roadmap and new product development (NPD).

Reporting Relationships:

The Global Director Upstream Product Marketing, Diagnostic Cardiology reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing Front Line Care. S/he manages a team of up to 5 including 2 Upstream Marketing Managers, 1 Product Manager and 1 Administrative Assistant. The Director is a peer to 3 other Frontline Care Upstream Marketing leaders focused on their own product areas of Patient Monitoring, Vision Care and Physical Exam. The Global Director Upstream Product Marketing, Diagnostic Cardiology is also a member of the Milwaukee site leadership team.

Basic Function and Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to continuously refine and execute a plan for substantial and profitable growth while leading upstream marketing and product marketing for the category/business 
  • Drives the overall portfolio roadmap including identification of both organic and inorganic opportunities in collaboration with regional and strategic marketing to achieve robust revenue and share growth 
  • Positions target categories to achieve a #1 or #2 market position working closely with Regional Marketing leaders to ensure the global product portfolio and marketing strategy meets the needs of all major markets 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the category and prioritize areas of focus. Stays in tune with any market forces or business drivers that would be influential to future markets 
  • Work with R&D to ensure on time and on budget execution of product development projects
  • Ensure new product introductions have strong global GTM strategies 
  • Develop evidence-based market adoption strategies for key product categories 
  • Manage the global commercial and pricing strategies for new products 
  • Optimize profitability of portfolio through margin management and COGs and SKU reduction
  • Develops and implements strategy across product portfolio 
  • Assures tactical alignment to corporate strategy 
  • Understands the impact of strategies on operating and long-range plans within the assigned portfolio 
  • Develops organizational talent through leading the activities of others, coaching the team in solving business issues, facilitating removal of roadblocks to achievement of goals. Ensures team members understand their individual impact on the corporate strategy and objectives 
  • Identifies and advocates for new processes that reduce business complexity 
  • Able to simplify and communicate complex analysis in a manner which various functions and stakeholders can understand and act on 
  • Expected Travel: 25%

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA strongly preferred 
  • 10+ years of upstream marketing including strategy and roadmap development and product launch experience within the cardiology medical device industry
  • Experience with internal processes and complex projects demonstrating the ability to nurture projects from ideation through successful commercialization (new product development) required 
  • Strong business acumen and detailed knowledge of upstream/downstream marketing, sales, operations, regulatory, clinical and NPD processes 
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally 
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue and maximizing company profits 
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence key decision makers and motivate a team 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Enthusiasm and an orientation to action and problem solving
