People Incorporated Mental Health Servicesis seeking a Gifts Officer to join our development team. The Gifts Officer is responsible for building relationships with current prospects and donors who have the capacity and interest in donating to People Incorporated. The relationship consists of, but is not limited by, stewardship of financial gifts in the form of general donations, legacy gifts, multiple year gifts, annual fund gifts and other complex gift arrangements.

Main Job Duties:

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with individuals, families, sponsors, and other resources that result in increased and/or maintained giving by educating them on our mission and making personal and regular contact to support annual advancement goals. 
  • Conduct discovery calls, research, and outreach to identify new donors capable of contributing to People Incorporated’s annual philanthropic need. Partner with members of the executive leadership team, Board and Development colleagues to build cultivation strategies. 
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and/or donors with the capacity to generate increases in existing donor giving levels as well as new major gifts. 
  • Partner with others to prepare donor marketing materials, letters, memorandum, donor-prospect research presentations, acknowledgement materials, and proposals as needed. 
  • Serve as an ambassador of the organization, interfacing with program staff, volunteers, board, community, and executives, while managing and facilitating requests for information and providing exceptional customer service.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. 
  • One to five years prior fundraising experience within a not-for-profit organization. 
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts from a wide range of donors. 
  • Working knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets, and estates.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Five or more years of successful fundraising experience for a not-for-profit. 
  • Prior donor database experience. 
  • Demonstrated advancement experience within an organization that provides services to those with mental health needs.

Hiring Range: $70,000 - $75,000, depending on qualifications.

Hiring Bonus: $1,000 hiring bonus available for external candidates.
