  • Responsible for managing and developing strategy for external communications for Children’s Wisconsin, including media relations and social media activities. 
  • Oversees integration of communication plans and messaging for multiple audience groups, ensuring the organization is “speaking with one voice” and reinforcing the Children’s brand and story. 
  • Builds relationships with key partners and media to ensure that external audiences hold the Children’s brand in high esteem. 
  • Counsels senior leaders and colleagues on appropriate external communication tactics and coaches spokespeople on messaging. 
  • Drives optimization of external communication channels and alignment with brand and digital marketing activities. 
  • Serves as a key partner to Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus and other partner organization peers to ensure integration across all audience groups. 
  • Responsible for crisis communication planning, readiness and improvement. 
  • Manages and develops the External Communication team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing or related field. 
  • At least 10 years strategic external communication planning and execution experience.
  • At least 3 years managing staff. Leadership experience at a management or program level required, as well as demonstrated skills in leading through influence. 
  • Strategic thinker with an enterprise view who is able to translate long-term plans, goals and complex concepts for multiple audiences and operationalize them through communications.
  • Experience setting strategy, developing plans and metrics and executing against them. 
  • Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication skills. 
  • Media relations, public relations and crisis communication experience. 
  • coaching executives and other leaders related to public speaking. 
  • Ability to prioritize resources, adapt and maintain positivity in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain robust and effective relationships with individuals and groups from senior executives to front-line stakeholders, including proven effectiveness in a collaborative environment. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Knowledge of web content management systems and social media tools. 
  • Experience with project management, database and other related software a plus.
