East Town Association (“ETA”) is seeking up to four part-time interns to work hands-on at our events this season, mostly with event set-up, tear-down, and supervision. The positions start the week of June 1st (possible training day the week prior) and runs through October 12 (depending on needs/availability). Primary work days and hours vary throughout the season, but mainly consist of the dates and times below:

  • Cathedral Square Market (19x Sundays): June 1st-October 12 (Schedule rotates, two interns each, so roughly only half or less of Sundays). Hours 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Jazz in the Park (8x Thursdays): June 5 & 19│July 3 & 31│August 14 & 28│September 11 & 25 (Mandatory with few exceptions for conflicts). Hours 2:00pm-10:00pm
  • Bastille Days (Various): July 17-20 (Mandatory) All interns must be available during these dates and will rotate morning and evening hours throughout the event. Additional hours might be available immediately prior to and after the event). 
  • Milwaukee Oktoberfest: October 3-5 (Event TBD)

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of each event (see below), including event set-up & breakdown and meeting sponsor needs. 
  • Help collect photos and videos during the events for different marketing campaigns.
  • Distribute event materials to local businesses and residential areas. 
  • Create and conduct surveys of event attendees. 
  • Research and propose various ideas to help improve the events. 
  • Assist with other general office and facilities needs and improvements. 

Additional Event Specific Responsibilities:

Cathedral Square Market 

  • Setting up East Town info booth and check-in of vendors as they arrive. 
  • Helping set-up additional items(tables, games, signage, etc.). 
  • Tracking hourly attendance, vendor participation, and vendor sales. 
  • Staffing the market info booth and serving as an onsite ambassador. 
  • Conducting market research to identify additional vendors. 

Bastille Days

  • Assist with Storm the Bastille run registration. 
  • Assist in the design and staffing of the Bastille Days merchandise booth. 
  • Monitoring & stocking any hospitality & backstage areas. 
  • Assist in the design and management of various programming. 
  • Attend to needs and tasks as they come up during the event. 

Jazz in the Park

  • Assist with set-up and tear down of private event areas. 
  • Set-up, stocking, and enhancement of the artist backstage area. 
  • Assist in the design and staffing of the ETA info tent and JITP merchandise booth. 
  • Assist in the set-up, break-down, and stocking of the bars, as well as inventory management.
  • Serve as an onsite Jazz in the Park ambassador. 
  • Attend to needs and tasks as they come up during the event. 
Milwaukee Oktoberfest
  • Assist with general set-up/tear-down of festival. 
  • Assist with the ETA info tent and merchandise sales. 
  • Attend to needs and tasks as they come up during the festival.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be able to work the specific dates and hours stated. 
  • Candidates must have the ability to work under pressure and handle high-energy events & attendees. 
  • Candidates need to be dependable, enthusiastic, personable, creative, dynamic, and eager to learn about the event management business. 
  • Candidates must be current students, preferably working towards a bachelor’s degree, but all majors welcome to apply.

Compensation & Benefits:

This internship pays $15/hour. We are happy to work with you on earning academic credit for your time as well.
