Core responsibilities include:

  • Environmental graphic design (including custom wall coverings and graphics, signage, wayfinding, and artwork) for the built environment on a variety of projects in the education, healthcare, office, and other market sectors
  • Interacting with clients to understand their branding and culture to develop purposeful designs
  • Collaborate with Somerville architects, interior designers, and other project stakeholders to ensure the integration of environmental graphics with the overall design concept and vision
  • Developing and articulating concepts, layouts, and design solutions
  • Leading visioning sessions, design critiques, and client meetings about your work
  • Establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships with external clients, vendors, and other construction disciplines
  • Bringing clients to consensus on your designs
  • Coordinating design documentation and specifications for bidding
  • Coordinating with vendors, fabricators, and installers to ensure the quality and timely delivery of environmental graphics
  • Conducting site visits, surveys, and inspections to verify the accuracy and compliance of environmental graphics with the project requirements and standards
  • Maintaining strong client communication throughout the entire design and installation process

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Marketing and Business Development team with graphic design for marketing campaigns and materials
  • Willingness to contribute ideas for new and existing marketing campaigns and create related assets
  • Ability to back-up other team members in their absence
  • Provide weekly updates on your projects to the team 
  • Research and stay updated on the latest trends, best practices, and innovations in environmental graphic design

Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Strong understanding of design principles, layout, typography, and color theory as related to both digital and print design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Beneficial but not required:

  • Experience with the built environment and comprehension of architectural plans and elevations are beneficial
  • Photography skills
  • Working knowledge of video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills 
  • Create visually appealing and effective environmental graphics 
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with multidisciplinary teams of architects, interior designers, engineers, clients, and the marketing team 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and budgets, and adapt to changing requirements and feedback 
  • Ability to follow design standards, guidelines, and best practices for environmental graphic design 

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in graphic design, environmental design, marketing, visual communication, or related field 
  • OR three or more years of experience
