POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Marketing is the senior position in the marketing department. The position leads and sets strategy for all digital and traditional marketing functions, including website content, email marketing, social media, video content, promotional materials, fundraising collateral, and supporting meeting or exceeding enrollment and fundraising goals and building awareness about WCM to current and potential students, families, donors, alums, and volunteers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hold to WCM's mission of "Inspiring individuals and communities through exceptional music-making, accessible to all.” 
  • EmbraceWCM’s values of Excellence, Inclusion, Empathy, and Integrity. 
  • Maintain the brand message and image throughout all marketing efforts. Work closely with WCM staff to ensure the brand message is consistent throughout all materials. 
  • Recommend and develop new strategies and tools to meet or exceed enrollment and fundraising goals and to build organizational awareness. 
  • Develop and execute effective lead-generation campaigns to increase enrollment—measure and report performance against goals (ROI, HVTs, and KPIs). 
  • Oversee and manage all internal and external email marketing initiatives. 
  • Oversee website content to ensure timely changes and updates. 
  • Analyze the effectiveness of all marketing initiatives to achieve stated goals, including key metrics for website, email marketing, e-news, and social media. 
  • Oversee and manage the development, production, and distribution of communications materials for student and donor marketing initiatives and event support. Work closely with fundraising and program leadership to develop communications materials. 
  • Oversee all video production to support marketing and fundraising. 
  • Hire and supervise marketing positions. 
  • Oversee and maintain relationships with outside consultants. 
  • Plan, manage, and maintain a budget for the department. 
  • Consistent and reliable office attendance is essential for the success of this role due to the high level of collaboration required. 
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -

  • 5-7 years of marketing leadership and strategy development, including responsibility for customer identification and conversion, project management, and budget responsibility, preferably in arts, education, or related industry. 
  • Extensive experience with social media and email marketing tools such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X. 
  • Experience in marketing content strategy implementation, sophisticated editorial calendars, and other content management tools. 
  • Proven experience in change management and working quickly in a cross-functional environment. 
  • Proven experience with email marketing platforms. (ex. Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.). 
  • Proven experience with CRM and CMS systems. 
  • Proven experience with website management. 
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and other digital analytics platforms. 
  • Experience and knowledge of the factors that drive SEO. 
  • Experience with Live Event management: galas, press conferences,promotional, and virtual events. 
  • Advanced analytical skills with a passion for data and metrics and the ability to interpret data and provide recommendations for optimizing marketing strategy and campaigns. 
  • Ability to interact and communicate in a professional manner with key constituencies. 
  • Commitment to continuous learning. 
  • Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contributions 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in marketing, communication, business, or related field preferred. This position requires in-person work.
