Ellenbecker Investment Group (EIG) began with an entrepreneurial vision to launch an organization that would enhance the lives of clients, employees, and the community as a whole. EIG was founded by Karen Ellenbecker in 1996 with the purpose of providing people with a holistic financial planning experience that gives them confidence and helps them feel well protected – empowering them to take care of themselves and their loved ones at every stage of their lives. Our goal, and trademark, is to listen, really listen, to our clients before we advise. Our business was built on core values and is grounded in a philosophy of exceptional planning and extraordinary service. We meet our clients, and employees, where they are, develop a strategy that meets their needs while aligning with a mutual set of core values and investment principles.

EIG has grown from 3 employees to over 40 and continues to grow with newly created positions being added to the team. We have three offices, Pewaukee, Whitefish Bay and Bonita Springs, FL with the home office being in Pewaukee where all employees are located.

The Director of Communications, reporting to the Director of Marketing, leads the firm’s communications strategy, focusing on social media, public relations, and podcast production. This role involves creating compelling content, developing and executing PR strategies, and producing high-quality podcasts to boost brand awareness. They collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and adherence to industry regulations. Additionally, they analyze performance metrics to optimize engagement and campaign effectiveness. 

The position is primarily in-office with flexible schedule options.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Social Media:

  • Manage and curate content for the company’s social media channels, including Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement, followers, and brand awareness.
  • Stay up to date with current social media trends and implement best practices to optimize reach.
  • Analyze and report on social media performance, adjusting strategies as needed to improve results.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all platforms.

Public Relations:

  • Develop and execute PR strategies to amplify the company’s reputation and visibility.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
  • Monitor media coverage and report on PR metrics, offering actionable insights for strategy improvement.
  • Coordinate interviews, speaking engagements, and event appearances for key employees.

Podcast Production:

  • Oversee the end-to-end production of podcasts, including scripting, recording, editing, and publishing.
  • Coordinate guest bookings, interviews, and scheduling to ensure smooth podcast execution.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and Client Care teams to create compelling podcast topics that align with brand objectives.
  • Ensure high production standards for sound quality, editing, and content structure.
  • Promote podcasts through social media, email newsletters, and other channels to drive engagement and listenership.

QUALIFICATIONS:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required preferably in public relations, social media management, and podcast production; direct experience in the financial services industry a plus.
  • Be an energetic, team-player that is passionate about being in the service industry.
  • Possess a professional, mature, and well-polished demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and analytics tools.
  • Experience with podcasting tools and software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity, or others).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Have a strong desire for learning and the ability to flourish in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Preferred qualifications include knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies, experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for creating social media content, and familiarity with podcast promotion and distribution platforms (e.g., Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc.).
