POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Digital Content Specialist is an organized, creative, and multi-disciplined creator who develops dynamic digital media that engages audiences around Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s productions and programs to drive ticket sales and fundraising, enhance brand recognition, and promote overall advancement of the institution. As a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, this position will work closely across departments to produce, capture, edit, and deliver videos, images, and other digital multimedia projects for CST’s website, e-communications, social media, and external distribution. The ideal candidate is a compelling visual storyteller with a creative eye for vivid and entertaining content and a vision for a cohesive brand identity.

  • Creates dynamic multimedia storytelling assets around CST’s productions and events, educational programs, lifelong learning initiatives, and community engagements for CST’s website, e-communications, social media, and external distribution. 
  • Plans, shoots, and edits video content—including trailers and animated ad spots for upcoming productions, short-form promotional videos based on artist interviews and behind-the-scenes capture, short-form documentary-style features for institutional initiatives, audience and participant testimonials, and other creative projects. 
  • Captures and edits photos of events, rehearsals, workshops, behind-the-scenes processes, and other Theater programming. 
  • Collaborates across marketing, communications, development, artistic, and education departments to create unified visual brand for content, from ideation and development to execution and evaluation. 
  • Manages multiple projects and deadlines, while navigating review and approvals processes. For sourced content, ensures all copyright obligations are met. 
  • Manages and maintains photo/video hardware, software, and equipment. 
  • Captures, organizes, archives, and distributes multimedia content. 
  • Aligns to CST’s brand guidelines, ensuring all content complies with the relevant brand and style guidelines and serves CST’s vision and strategic goals.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified candidates will have experience producing, shooting, and editing video, photo, and multimedia content in a fast-paced, multi-project environment. 
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in content production, marketing, communications, a related field, or combination of these areas. 
  • Proven experience in translating ideas and concepts into content and proficiency in narrative construction and visual storytelling. 
  • Proven experience in creating a wide range of content, e.g., sizzle reels, short trailers, digital video ads, long-form interviews, documentary features, and/or web content. 
  • Proven experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects in a quick-turnaround, fast-paced working environment. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom Audition, Photoshop). 
  • Familiarity with WordPress content management system. 
  • Familiarity with email marketing software such as WordFly, Mail Chimp, etc. 
  • Experience with DSLR and HD cameras, audio recorders, and lighting for video. 
  • Advanced knowledge in video production, multimedia content, and digital distribution.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Some background or knowledge is a plus. 
  • Performance or event videography and photography experience.
