Bayview Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing and supportive services to residents living in Madison’s historic Triangle Neighborhood. In the middle of the neighborhood, Bayview operates a comprehensive community center that offers culturally relevant and responsive educational, social, recreational, and cultural programs and services to area residents in need. Programs and services aim to support residents in achieving their aspirations and helping families to thrive.

After years of in-depth planning with residents and community leaders, Bayview is in its final year of a phased, three year plan to rebuild the 6.4 acre property. By early 2025, the new Bayview will feature 130 apartment and townhouse units, providing affordable, dignified housing for up to 500 residents. The campus also features a stunning new neighborhood center that serves the entire neighborhood with programming in the following areas: food access; youth development and education; adult education and skill advancement; social work and resource navigation; senior meals and wellness; art and cultural programs

The Development Coordinator will help to generate awareness about Bayview to create, renew, and strengthen relationships with donors, foundations, corporations and supporters. This position will work closely with the Development Director to identify funding opportunities and develop, write, submit and track grant proposals. The Development Coordinator will also support strategies for increased recognition and revenue through donor cultivation, stewardship, and communications. Prior experience in fundraising is required, with an emphasis on strong communication, relationship building and writing

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help create compelling, persuasive, well-structured grant narratives and proposals through use of effective storytelling and use of relevant data. 
  • Identify and develop strategic relationships for grant partnerships. Participate in collaborative efforts with universities, organizations, and projects. 
  • Work closely with the Development Director to coordinate the researching, development, writing, packaging and submission of grant proposals. 
  • Maintain and contribute to data organization systems, including departmental databases. Update and contribute to shared team resources. 
  • Undertake internal and external research to identify funding sources as well as gather statistical, analytical and anecdotal data. 
  • Coordinate day-to-day donation input and consistent reconciliation reports in Little Green Light, related to events, recurring donations, and individual, corporate, and foundation gifts and grants. 
  • Research new potential donors to help expand funding sources. 
  • Contribute to year-end appeal, GivingTuesday campaign, The Big Share, and spring appeal.
  • Draft timely donor acknowledgements. 
  • Assist with grant reporting. 
  • Coordinate mailings. 
  • Assist with storytelling through social media, MailChimp and other platforms. 
  • Perform additional administrative responsibilities as requested to support the department and the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in communications, English, journalism, and/or a related field 
  • A minimum of two years experience in fundraising or grant writing 
  • Talent for translating complex topics into clear, concise, and compelling content 
  • Excellent knowledge of of proposal submission and fundraising processes 
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization 
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources 
  • Multitasking, organizational, and time management skills 
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost discretion 

Requirements:

  • Experience with databases (preferably donor focused), Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Commitment to social justice, racial equity, and anti-racism

Hours and Compensation:

The Development Coordinator is a full time position, 32-40 hrs/week, with an hourly rate of $22-$25/hour depending upon experience. Eligible for medical and dental benefits. Accrued PTO (sick, vacation, personal days, and holidays). Flexible work schedule within regular business hours. This position can be hybrid with most days in-person and remote.
