This position works closely with colleagues in the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) unit as well as faculty and staff within the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB). Primary responsibilities include developing and executing content strategies, promoting faculty research, editorial planning for owned media (web and social media), copyediting content, driving engagement and enhancing the School's social media presence, and managing web site home page content. This position will ensure brand consistency in the "voice" of the Wisconsin School of Business in all content.

50% Wisconsin School of Business Digital Editorial

  • Develop content strategy and execute content to promote faculty research, including faculty blogs, research features, and research newsletter
  • Develop and implement editorial content for the WSB web site that communicates the School's vision and key strategies and enhances the reputation of the School among external stakeholders
  • Measure engagement and reach across editorial web content and optimize content strategies based on data
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across the WSB to enterprise story ideas and develop storytelling content that engages and inspires

35% Wisconsin School of Business Social Media Management

  • Develop and execute content strategy for WSB social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, YouTube)
  • Represent the WSB brand and serve as community manager for conversations on WSB social media
  • Increase engagement and grow followers across WSB social media platforms
  • Track key metrics for social and optimize content strategies based on data

10% Staff Supervision and Talent Management

  • Manage and supervise writer and photographer
  • Lead professional development of direct reports
  • Develop and set work objectives and priorities
  • Manage employee performance and conduct midyear and annual evaluations

5% Other Duties as Assigned

  • Provide work coverage for Director, Assistant Director, or PR Manager during absences as needed
  • Serve on committees and project teams
  • Collaborate with campus partners-Staff school events as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience in content marketing, social media content development and platforms management, writing/blogging and editing, editorial planning, and metrics analysis and tracking in a marketing or communications function. Agency experience preferred. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience as a content marketer and social media strategist with an editorial background who can translate complex concepts for a mass audience. Must be able to deliver great storytelling content that engages.

  • Able to demonstrate strong understanding of branding and ensuring that content reflects brand voice and communication goals.
  • Ability to think strategically and understand audiences, with experience translating complex concepts for a broad audience, developing messaging for target audiences, and building campaigns
  • Excellent writing and copyediting skills that tells a compelling story with proficiency in writing for the web
  • Ability to demonstrate a command of the English language, AP style, and creative writing ability-Expertise in Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, YouTube, and Google Analytics
  • Demonstrated experience with web technology and publishing (Sitecore experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with editorial planning and content management systems
  • Ability to function well under deadline pressure and meet project deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong ability to lead teams and work in complex organizational structures
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
