The White Bear Area Food Shelf is seeking an enthusiastic and creative part-time Content Strategist & Storyteller to join our team. We’re looking for someone who can share the stories of our work, connect with our community, and inspire support for our mission to end hunger in the White Bear Area. If you’re a natural storyteller with a knack for strategy and a heart for giving back, we want to hear from you! This is a part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

About the Role:

As the part-time Content Strategist & Storyteller, you will be responsible for developing and executing content strategies that highlight the impact of the White Bear Area Food Shelf and engaging our community. You will play a vital role in raising awareness about food insecurity, sharing stories of hope, and encouraging donations and volunteer support.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Strategy Development & Coordination: Develop and implement content strategies that support our outreach goals, including raising awareness, increasing donations, and recruiting volunteers. Coordinate the production and dissemination of communications and outreach materials.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with volunteer and paid service providers to ensure timely delivery of communications materials, including graphic designer, web designer, translation services, printers, etc. Work closely with the food shelf staff and volunteers to identify content opportunities and ensure consistent messaging and branding. Ensure communication materials, both digital and print, are well organized and accessible.
  • Storytelling & Content Creation: Craft compelling narratives and create engaging content across various formats, including blog posts, website updates, social media posts, email newsletters, flyers, annual reports, presentations, and short videos.
  • Community Engagement: Connect with our neighbors, volunteers, and donors to gather stories and testimonials that showcase the impact of our work. Support community partners with their fundraising events and campaigns with materials and promotion.
  • Social Media Management: Manage our social media presence, creating and scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring activity.
  • Website Updates: Maintain and update our website with current information, stories, and calls to action. 
  • Email Marketing: Create and send email newsletters to our supporters, sharing updates, stories, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Photography/Videography: Capture photos and videos of our work to use in content creation.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
  • Experience producing and managing content and engaging audiences on social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). 
  • Demonstrated experience with basic graphic design and video editing. 
  • Basic understanding of content marketing principles. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. 
  • At least three years of communications and/or marketing experience, preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or related field, preferred. 
  • Experience working with non-profits and fundraising preferred. 
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish or Hmong preferred.

Terms:

Part-Time, $24/hour, 24 hours/week, flexible schedule, hybrid work options available. Reports to Development Manager.
