Our Communications Specialist II will research and write numerous and diverse publications—including sales collateral, corporate image materials, direct mail campaigns, advertisements, media releases, employee communications, administrative/member communications, internal/external newsletters, website copy, blog posts, social media content, video scripts, speech scripts—from concept through completion under sensitive budget and time demands.

  • Independently research, write, and edit a variety of printed pieces for company campaigns (brochures, direct mail, letters, postcards, flyers, presentations, video scripts).
  • Create and maintain copy for websites, blogs, and social media using industry best practices.
  • Using communications expertise, ensure WPS and its subsidiaries are presented in the best manner for each communication need. Understand the needs and points of view of our customers, agents, providers, etc. and represent them appropriately.
  • Research, write, and edit all newsletters. (Live Healthy, Wise & Well, Provider Connection, The Leader, Agent Advantage)
  • Proofread and edit copy for clarity and adherence to brand voice and style.
  • Work with graphic designers to ensure all materials are complete, accurate, and graphically cohesive to meet corporate design standards.
  • Create concepts and copy for online and print advertisements.Assist with professional development of Communications Specialist I employee(s).
  • Review and edit communications from/for other departments for internal or external purposes.
  • Ensure the WPS or subsidiary brand is prominent in all communications and within messaging brand guidelines.
  • Work in collaboration with other departments and represent Corporate Communications in meetings with cross-functional teams.

3 years of concurrent, full-time professional writing experience in a corporate or agency setting and one year of sales/advertising/marketing experience

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field OR equivalent post high school and/or work related experience.
