 WHAT THIS ROLE WILL BE DOING:

The Communications Manager is responsible to oversee internal and external communications to ensure alignment with company goals, fostering a cohesive and informed workforce. Drive employee engagement by strengthening company culture through events, communication tools, and advocacy of ESOP values. Serve as a strong community representative while managing government relations to promote the business and secure resources. Lead responsive communication efforts, including crisis management, to maintain trust and organizational integrity.

Duties to include (not limited to):

  • Internal/External Communications:
  • Foster open and transparent communication within the organization. Ensure all content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with our brand voice for employees and prospective candidates
  • Develop internal newsletters, announcements, and other communication tools to keep employees informed and engaged
  • Create comprehensive communication plans that align with our company's goals and objectives
  • Be a strong external representative in the community to drive value of being an employer of choice
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality content for various platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, marketing & recruiting materials
  • Strengthening Company Culture:
  • Resource for organizing events, and meetings such townhalls, updates, leadership engagements and company initiatives
  • Develop tools and resources to articulate, advocate and disseminate company strategies, goals, initiatives and expectations to gain alignment and organizational direction
  • Measure and report out on effectiveness of communication platforms provide direction on continuous improvement activities
  • Help be a pulse of the organizational culture, engagement and opportunity by visible employee involvement, presentation and face-to-face discussion
  • Government Affairs:
  • Based on business demands, developments and initiatives, seek and secure grants, resources and incentives to help facilitate business activity and growth
  • Connect with, advocate, and represent Wausau Supply positively with all local, state and federal representatives and business groups in our area
  • Develop and implement strategies to build trust, connection, influence, and engagement with local, state and federal politicians in favor of the business relationships
  • Responsive Communication:
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate potential risks
  • Act as the primary point of contact during a crisis, ensuring timely and effective communication

 A Communications Manager will possess and/or demonstrate the ability to:

  • Teamwork oriented both internally/externally – cooperative – positive attitude
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and implement improvements based on key indicators and feedback
  • Learn WSC operations/procedures/organizational culture
  • Ability to foster a cohesive, values-driven work environment
  • Ability to represent the company positively and build strong relationships with government representatives, community stakeholders, and employees
  • Demonstrated success in creating compelling content across multiple platforms, including social media, newsletters, and marketing materials.

 Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • 5-8 years in communications, public relations, or a related role, ideally within a corporate environment.
  • Experience organizing and managing internal events such as townhalls and employee engagement activities.
