Under the direction of the Assistant City Administrator, the Communications Director oversees, develops and executes marketing and communication functions for the City of West Bend. This position is responsible for coordinating with key personnel to increase the quality and consistency of marketing and communications across a wide spectrum of internal and external audiences. This position strives to build and sustain a strong sense of shared purpose, clarity, engagement and positivity.

Responsibilities: 
  • Develops and implements communications plan and strategies for the City of West Bend.
  • Manages Media Production Coordinator (Community Television), Communications Coordinator, and other staff and/or interns. 
  • Develops and designs marketing materials for internal and external audience groups, economic development initiatives, and tourism development and promotion. 
  • Serves as the Executive Director of the Business Improvement District Board. 
  • Supervises the staff representative of the Tourism Commission. 
  • Provides strategic planning analysis for current and future marketing programs. 
  • Plans, organizes and presents detailed marketing initiative plans in conjunction with the overall marketing plan, and institutes marketing placement in key market areas. 
  • Represents the City in public relations capacities. 
  • Informs organizations, businesses, schools and the general public about City of West Bend events and local access opportunities. 
  • Maintains an awareness of and monitors media trends, technology development and new options that may have the potential of advancing the City's marketing and communication efforts. 
  • Manages the City's social networks including engaging current and potential customers, resolving consumer questions/concerns and building brand loyalty. 
  • Acquires, analyzes and reports on various statistical data points related to marketing and customer retention. 
  • Prepares, administers and reviews the Department budget. 
  • Writes grants to assist with marketing efforts and other City initiatives. 
  • Assists, in limited capacity, with video and photography production. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or Public Administration; Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of three to five years of marketing and communications experience. 
  • Effective public relations and communications skills. 
  • Proficient computer skills including analytical comprehension. 
  • Posses valid drivers' license.
  • Salary Range: $85,033.73 - $97,784.54
