This position works under the direct supervision of the Communications and Economic Development Director and supports a wide range of duties within the Communications Department. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for crafting digital content and implementing communications strategies that support the City of West Bend’s presence in the community, increases awareness of programs and resources, and offers transparency in government operations to internal and external constituents.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate, unique, and compelling content for the City’s website, press releases, Visit West Bend, e-newsletters, and other communication channels 
  • Work collaboratively with team members, other departments, and constituents
  • Draft, route, and maintain social media schedule with tailored, informative, and engaging content 
  • Produce videos and photos for social media and marketing promotion 
  • Perform graphic design work for digital and print marketing collateral 
  • Attend select special events, meetings, and other activities as needed 
  • Track metrics and develop reports on a quarterly and annual basis 
  • Assist the Director as needed with general administrative and clerical duties

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Journalism, Video Production, or related field of study 
  • 2–4 years of related experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities 
  • Proficient using computers, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro 
  • Experience managing social media platforms for businesses, nonprofits, or governmental entities (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) 
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written form 
  • Able to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage projects independently as well as the ability to work with little or no supervision

Starting salary is $56,638 with comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision and life insurance, vacation and sick time, Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension plan, and more!
