The School District of Beloit is committed to preparing students who are college and career ready, empowered with effective communication, critical thinking, and life skills, which enable them to be productive global citizens. We are located on the southern Wisconsin state line in Rock county approximately 50 miles from Madison, 70 miles from Milwaukee, and 90 miles from Chicago.

We currently serve over 5,000 students with 6 elementary (4K-5) schools, 2 middle schools (6 - 8), 1 high school (9-12), 1 alternative school. Our schools are staffed by highly qualified, talented employees. Each building is supported by an Instructional Coach and a STEM Coach. All schools receive support from Instructional Content Specialists, and Student Services staff. We have programs for every child: advanced learning student options, online classes, all-day 4K, dual-language immersion, an advanced technical training center, a state-recognized intervention model.

The Chief of Communications and Marketing is the district's communications leader overseeing all internal and external messaging, media relations, social and digital media, branding, marketing, and creative services. The Chief of Communications leads the creation,execution, and continuous refinement of a communications strategy that allows the district to improve the academic achievement of all students,values and responds to constituent concerns, and promotes transparency and accountability. The Chief of Communications and Marketing partners with local agencies to implement the strategy with excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement proactive and strategic communications that advance the interests and success of the School District of Beloit
  2. Work across the organization to lead strategy development for proactive media relations, social media, stakeholder communication and engagement, and content development and delivery
  3. Lead the management of delivering best in class media relations, stakeholder engagement, marketing, and brand management in support of student achievement
  4. Foster relationships with the media and serve as a spokesperson to supplement the work of the Office of Superintendent and the School District of Beloit when necessary. Work closely with district leadership to identify other spokespeople when needed
  5. Set the brand management strategy across various district divisions, departments, schools, initiatives, programs, and events, ensuring continuity and consistency.
  6. Provide creative direction to a team of communications professionals acting as an internal agency supporting district departments with internal and external communications as well as outside agencies used to supplement internal work streams
  7. Direct the content and user experience of the district’s digital, social, and web presence, ensuring quality, message alignment, and information access.
  8. Oversee internal communication and engagement programming for the district’s employees, managing internal communications flow and ensuring key messages are communicated timely and transparently to all employees
  9. Monitor, develop and implement new communications channels and technologies, leveraging innovative digital platforms
  10. Create and execute a dedicated social media strategy with the aim of listening closely to stakeholder commentary on the district and leveraging social media as a frontline communication channel, using social channels to tell the district’s story in innovative and non-traditional ways.
  11. Leverage events (district and non-district), awards, recognitions, media coverage, social media, and district-generated creative to reinforce and strengthen communication of the district’s vision, mission, and work
  12. Build and track metrics for measuring success of messaging campaigns, communication channels, events, strategic partnerships, press relationships, and external vendor performance. Refine communication plans and practices based on metrics
