Do you love storytelling with data and insights? As the Category & Shopper Insights Manager, Center of Excellence – Home Cleaning at SC Johnson you will leverage your storytelling ability to establish yourself as a strategic and trusted business partner to our Customers, Sales & Marketing organizations. You will be responsible for developing best practice sales strategies to drive category growth and shopper conversion across customers and channels. You will be expected to provide fact-based insight solutions that drive growth for the category, customers, and company through a combination of shopper insights and analytics. You will be considered a subject matter expert on the Home Cleaning category with a deep understanding of the shopper, products, assortment, shelving, merchandising, pricing and promotion strategies. This role will work closely with Field Category Management, Omni Marketing, Brand, Sales Strategy, Consumer Insights & Business Analytics and Sales Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be a champion for the shopper and an advocate for the category within the commercial organization.
  • Be able to strike the balance of maintaining an unbiased category and shopper-centric perspective while also identifying opportunity areas for SCJ to disproportionally win; ensuring that Category-Specific content is regularly enhanced with new research content and insights perspective
  • Lead custom research on shopper behavior and attitudes, focusing on integrating customer, consumer, and shopper insights to build comprehensive omnichannel knowledge across the entire path-to-purchase and drive growth for the organization.
  • Translate data and shopper insights into retailer-specific strategic and tactical recommendations and solutions.
  • Drive identification of category best practices and selling stories for distribution, merchandising, shelving, and innovation support.
  • Lead analysis of drivers of category performance across retailers & channels to influence development of category growth and conversion strategies.
  • Lead development of shelf & space strategy including planogram guidance, cross category shelving strategies, space measurement
  • Provide category assortment analysis to guide retailer-specific recommendations.
  • Anticipate how category trends will impact future performance and work to develop a SCJ POV/recommendations on how to meet the needs of the future needs of the shopper.
  • Provide relevant macro insights and thought leadership in support of SCJ and category growth initiatives.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years’ relevant experience required

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in Category management, preferred experience in CPG and/or retail

Technical Skills

  • Advanced skills in syndicated data tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and space management software tools
  • Previous experience analyzing retailer-supplied point-of-sale data and retailer loyalty card data, assortment analysis tools, and shelving and store analytics
  • Ability to define root cause factors from data, experience, and judgment in translating data into compelling stories for customers’

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees
  • Role is based in the West Loop, Chicago Office

The Company's Total Rewards package is at or above industry levels. The expected base salary range for this position is between 116,400.00 USD - 145,500.00 USD. Job related skills, experience, education, and location will be considered in setting actual starting base salary. In addition to your base salary and depending on job level, eligibility, and performance, a total package may include profit sharing, a short-term incentive and/or long-term incentives.
