St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking an Associate Director of Legacy and Gift Planning. This is a frontline fundraiser position. A person in this role is expected to build relationships and generate financial support from alumni, friends, and parents for St. Norbert College. The primary focus will be to build upon our comprehensive planned giving program and increase the number of planned giving donors to the college.

The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $69,000, based on experience and this position reports to the Director of Philanthropic Advising.

Specific responsibilities:

Lead Legacy and Gift Planning program planning and management, including creating and evaluating communication, marketing, and stewardship plans and projects; preparing and administering the budget; and establishing and evaluating program procedures. - 50%

Build and manage a portfolio of donors capable of investing philanthropic gifts at the leadership annual giving and major gift levels, with a primary focus on increasing the percentage of planned giving supporters and dollars committed for the planned giving program. As a trusted fundraising partner, contact and meet with prospective philanthropic donors to determine their capacity for giving, discover passions, and secure resources aligned with college priorities. Cultivate relationships for the purpose of developing and implementing strategies for the solicitation of gifts. Ask for gifts personally, sometimes as part of a team. Communicate information needed in a clear and timely manner with donors who are inspired to philanthropically support St. Norbert College. Manage progress toward a mutually-decided number of visits, qualifications, solicitations, commitments, and dollars raised during each fiscal year. Document results of all substantive contacts with prospective donors for records, review and critique. - 30%

Track and monitor key elements of the legacy giving program such as overall progress toward legacy/estate giving goals, activity on planned giving donor leads, legacy society member engagement, marketing metrics, planned giving story options, and college-owned life insurance commitments including those where ongoing payment requests to the donors are warranted. - 10%

Lead legacy giving education, build relationships and share relevant legacy giving resources with those that support donors’ legacy gift planning (fundraising colleagues, estate and wealth planning professionals). Partner with fundraisers on donor connections involving more complex gift vehicles, as they arise. - 10%

Perform additional duties as assigned and attend College required training. Regular attendance is required. Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

Experience and Credentials:

  • 2+ years previous experience in areas such as fundraising, estate planning, finance, legal services, or communications is preferred. 
  • Valid Driver’s License required. 
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office and Google apps) and proficient with desktop and mobile devices. 
  • Skilled in understanding expectations and knowing how to reach agreed upon timelines and targets. 
  • Ability to act independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Results oriented with ability to plan for action. 
  • Skilled at developing effective strategies, identifying critical tasks and deliverables, and obtaining or organizing necessary resources and support to achieve objectives. 
  • Ability to work with others on design and implementation of tasks.

  • Possesses good interpersonal skills and be team oriented. 
  • Ability to align team objectives and priorities, secure commitment of others on the team to objectives to be achieved, and ensure appropriate linkage/partnerships are established and maintained. 
  • Skilled in forming partner relationships with leadership, development teammates, volunteers and alumni to create strategies based on in-depth knowledge of college needs and prospects interests. 
  • Skilled at establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers by effectively communicating verbally and in writing. 
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and be team oriented.
